Reserve 101, in the heart of Houston’s EaDo (East Downtown) entertainment district, offers Blanton’s, W.L. Weller and Buffalo Trace bourbons at a complimentary tasting July 26 at 6:30 p.m.

The Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, so named because it sits on the site of an ancient Kentucky River bison crossing, is home to numerous fine bourbon, rye and vodka brands. Whiskey has been manufactured at the location since 1773, but the distillery dates to 1870. It’s been known by different names over the years and is listed on National Register of Historic Places as the George T. Stagg Distillery. Buffalo Trace produces such well-known brands as Ancient Age, Blanton’s, Van Winkle and W.L. Weller bourbon, Rain vodka and Sazerac and Thomas W. Handy ryes.

“This tasting will provide a great opportunity for our customers to learn to appreciate the differences among bourbons all produced at the same distillery,” said Reserve 101 co-owner and whiskey expert Mike Raymond. “One of the joys of fine whiskey is that no two taste exactly alike.”

Reserve 101 stocks one of the best premium whiskey selections in the nation, with over 180 varieties behind the bar. Martinis, Signature Cocktails, beer and wine are also available, along with a Reserve 101 specialty—infusions. These are created in-house by steeping apples, peaches, peppers and other organic materials in various liquors to impart unique flavors.

Reserve 101 is located at the corner of Caroline and Dallas, next to Dirt Bar and across the street from House of Blues. “Happy Hour,” with dollar-off beers and wines and half-price signature cocktails runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday with specials just about every day of the week, including Sundays.
