KPRC Radio reporter James Simpson joined in on the Shiner Beer tasting at Reserve 101 last night, and filed this report on his Beer Blog, Reserve 101: Saluting a Texas original: Shiner Beer

The beer aficionados that I am, I always seek out beer events around town. Due to my extreme busy schedule I cannot attend all of them. When I received the invite from Reserve 101 to come out for their complimentary Shiner Beer tasting I made sure I cleared out my schedule to attend.

The event was hosted by Reserve 101 co-owner Mike Raymond. The beers sampled where Shiner Bock, Light Blonde, Ruby Redbird and Heife Weizen. Mike broke down and gave a brief history of each beer.

My personal favorite was the Ruby Redbird. The beer had a grapefruit flavor with a hint of ginger. The beer is fantastic and I highly recommend it. The beer is seasonal so it will only be available until August... Gotta hurry!!

Reserve 101 holds a complementary tasting every Tuesday at 6:30p. Each week is different, it could be beer, scotch, whiskey etc.. Speaking of whiskey the bar stocks over 130 specialty whiskeys to choose from.

I would like to personally thank Tony Lentini and Mike Raymond for having me out.
