Reserve 101 Houston co-owner and whiskey expert Mike Raymond explains the process for making a barrel-aged cocktail, specifically a Manhattan, in Part One of a two-part series.
And in Part Two, Mike covers the final steps in the process, and describes how to test the cocktail to know the final cocktail should be served.
Reserve 101 stocks one of the best premium whiskey selections in the nation, with over 180 varieties behind the bar. Martinis, Signature Cocktails, beer and wine are also available, along with a Reserve 101 specialty—infusions. These are created in-house by steeping apples, peaches, peppers and other organic materials in various liquors to impart unique flavors.
Reserve 101 is located in the heart of Houston’s EaDo (East Downtown) entertainment district, at the corner of Caroline and Dallas, next to Dirt Bar and across the street from House of Blues.
“Happy Hour,” with dollar-off beers and wines and half-price signature cocktails runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday with specials just about every day of the week, including Sundays.
