RESERVE 101 OFFERS SINGLE MALT FROM THE GLENROTHES AT SEPT. 27 COMPLIMENTARY TUESDAY TASTING
Wednesday, 21 September 2011 10:07
Downtown Houston whiskey bar Reserve 101 welcomes North American Brand Ambassador Ross Hendry to its complimentary Tuesday Tasting of Speyside single malt Scotch from The Glenrothes Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Space is limited, so be sure to register early at http://reserve101.com/whiskey-tastings-houston.

The Glenrothes, produced in the town of Rothes in Scotland’s Speyside region on the northeast coast, dates to 1879. Production of highly flammable, over-proof whiskey led to several fires at the distillery over the years. The Glenrothes is popular with scotch blenders, such as Cutty Sark and Famous Grouse, but also markets its own single malt. Unlike most single malt distilleries, The Glenrothes determines when its whiskey is ready by taste and maturity, rather than age. Each vintage has its own unique personality, but general characteristics include flavors of ripe fruits, citrus and vanilla with a spicy finish and a creamy texture.

“The Glenrothes has been prized by whiskey connoisseurs for many years, but really didn’t achieve wider popularity until the 1970s,” said Reserve 101 co-owner and whiskey expert Mike Raymond. “This is an exceptional whiskey that we are proud to introduce to our customers.”

Reserve 101 has the finest whiskey collection in the region, stocking nearly 200 varieties of hard-to-find and unusual brands from around the world. The bar is located in Houston’s EaDo (East Downtown) entertainment district at the corner of Caroline and Dallas, next to Dirt Bar and across from House of Blues. The neighborhood establishment is also famous for its Signature Cocktails and infusions, organic material steeped in liquor to impart distinctive flavorings.

“Happy Hour,” with dollar-off beers and wines and half-price signature cocktails runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday with specials just about every day of the week, including Sundays.
